While medallions might seem quite lucrative to acquire in a Fortnite match due to the various buffs they grant, a player has showcased why it is probably a bad idea to get one due to the location markers. Medallions have been a point of contention ever since they were released as part of Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 1 update, despite their functionality evolving over the seasons.

Fortnite fans are eagerly waiting for the Chapter 5 Season 3 update to release, which is slated to feature a post-apocalyptic theme. While rumors had suggested that a Mad Max collaboration could be next, Epic Games surprised fans again by announcing Fortnite’s partnership with Fallout instead. As the new season approaches and revamps the Fortnite meta, fans are debating about the utility of medallions in the game.
In a new post on the Fortnite subreddit, user the_haver highlights how risky getting a medallion can be. In the video, the player can get the exact location of the opponent on the map, which helps them to spot the enemy with ease. They go on to sneakily snipe down the enemy through the bush. Despite the enemy hiding behind the rock, it is the disadvantage of using a medallion that aids the player in finding them.
Fortnite Aspect of Gods Medallions Perks
Aspect of Siphon (Hades): Grants health after eliminating an opponent
Aspect of Agility (Cerberus): Grants Underworld Dash charges
Aspect of Speed (Zeus): Boosts movement speed and jump height
Aspect of Combat (Ares): Increases damage from ranged weapons
In Chapter 5 Season 2, players can get medallions, also known as the Aspect of Gods, by defeating the various NPC bosses. The likes of Zeus, Hades, Cerberus, and Ares are not easy to defeat in Fortnite, so it is not easy to get the medallions in the first place. However, each of them provides unique buffs to the player, such as improving damage, vitality, or even movement speed. Every player has their own favorite medallion depending on their playstyle, but there is a caveat to using them. Having the medallions means the player’s location will be marked on the map and the more medallions one has, the more precise the location marker becomes.
Fans are once again at odds about the utility of medallions, with some players stating that it’s just the opponent who didn’t use them wisely, as camping with medallions doesn’t make sense. A few highlighted how difficult it is to take down players with Fortnite’s Aspect of Agility, contrary to the easy sniper kill that the player got. Moreover, some aggressive players emphasized how grabbing medallions ramps up the fun in the game, considering that the entire lobby starts targeting medallion holders.
On the other hand, several strategic players believe that giving away the location for merely a few buffs is just not worth it. With Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 3 just around the corner, it remains to be seen what new medallions Epic Games has in store for the new season.
