Forbidden Rites can feel easy during the first few encounters, but the difficulty changes quickly when multiple bosses start stacking together. More bosses mean more attacks, more ground effects, and fewer safe places to stand.
For new players, the key is not simply dealing more damage. You need to control the fight so that several dangerous enemies do not attack you at the same time.
Deal With Elites Before They Become a Problem
Elite monsters are one of the biggest reasons a Ritual arena can suddenly become overwhelming.
Do not blindly focus on the boss while several dangerous elites are surrounding you. If an elite has a strong ranged attack, movement ability, or area effect, remove it early. Clearing one or two high-threat enemies can create much more room for the rest of the fight.
At the same time, avoid wasting your strongest cooldowns on weak trash mobs. Use your normal clearing skill to remove smaller enemies and save your burst damage for bosses and priority elites.
The goal is to reduce the number of threats on screen before the encounter reaches its most dangerous stage.
Control Enemy Aggro
You do not always need every boss standing directly on top of your character.
Movement is your main form of crowd control during stacked Rituals. Keep moving around the edge of the arena and try to make enemies follow you through a predictable path.
If several bosses have different attack ranges, use that difference to your advantage. Keep the melee boss away from ranged enemies when possible, forcing some attacks to miss or arrive at different times.
Do not constantly run in circles without a plan, though. Your movement should create space for your next attack.
For ranged builds, kite until the bosses separate, then turn around and use your strongest damage skills. For melee builds, wait for an opening, attack briefly, and move away before the next dangerous ability.
Use the Arena
The Ritual arena itself can help you survive.
Instead of fighting in the center, use the outer edge whenever possible. Corners, obstacles, and changes in terrain can sometimes interrupt enemy movement or give you a moment to reposition.
Avoid trapping yourself against a wall. You always want at least one clear escape route.
Ground effects are another major concern. If an area becomes dangerous, leave immediately instead of trying to finish your current attack sequence. A few seconds of lost DPS is much better than losing the entire encounter.
This is especially important when you have already invested a lot of time into a boss chain.
Skills That Work Well Early
During the campaign, simple and reliable skills are usually better than complicated setups.
Prioritize abilities that provide consistent area damage, fast clearing, or reliable single-target burst. A good movement skill is also extremely valuable because repositioning is often more important than raw damage during stacked encounters.
Defensive supports can be surprisingly strong as well. Anything that improves survivability, recovery, mobility, or reduces the danger of taking repeated hits can give you more room to make mistakes.
Do not build your entire character around maximizing a damage tooltip. A slightly lower-DPS setup that lets you stay alive and attack consistently will usually perform better.
The same principle applies to your POE2 Currency. Spending resources on one major defensive weakness can sometimes improve your Ritual performance more than adding another small damage upgrade.
Manage Your Burst Windows
Do not use every cooldown the moment the first boss appears.
Wait until the bosses are grouped in a favorable position or one priority target becomes exposed. Then use your strongest skills together.
After the burst window, return to movement and positioning.
This creates a simple rhythm:
Move → separate enemies → attack → reposition → burst → move again.
Trying to maintain permanent DPS while standing still is one of the easiest ways for a new Ritual player to die.
When the Fight Gets Too Crowded
If the screen becomes filled with bosses, elites, projectiles, and ground effects, stop thinking about damage for a moment.
Create space first.
Kill the most dangerous nearby elite, move toward a safer section of the arena, wait for major attacks to finish, and then resume your damage rotation.
You do not have to win the fight quickly. You only need to avoid turning one mistake into a death.
Final Tips for New Players
Multi-boss Rituals become much easier once you stop treating them like normal boss fights.
Control the arena, remove dangerous elites, keep enemies separated, and always leave yourself an escape route. Save burst skills for clear opportunities rather than using them randomly.
Most importantly, learn the attack patterns before trying to maximize DPS. Once the fight feels predictable, you can start pushing your damage higher.
With the right positioning and a simple skill setup, even difficult Ritual chains become manageable. And as your character improves, the extra POE 2 Currency and loot from these encounters can help fund the next major upgrade.
