Races of World of Warcraft :Pandaren

Couched in myth and legend, rarely seen and even more rarely understood, the enigmatic pandaren have long been a mystery to the other races of Azeroth. The noble history of the pandaren people stretches back thousands of years, well before the empires of man and before even the sundering of the world.

Denizens of a wondrous and fertile land, the pandaren once labored under the oppressive thumb of a monstrous race of ancient warlords known as the mogu. Through tenacity, diplomacy, and a unique form of unarmed combat, the pandaren staged a successful revolution that deposed the mogu and established a pandaren empire that would prosper for thousands of years.

Honorable and filled with a love of good company, good food — and every now and then, a good friendly brawl — the pandaren have been content to live in seclusion, allowing their culture to flourish and thrive away from the influence of the outside world. However, every now and then, a pandaren is born with a thirst for adventure that rivals his or her thirst for a strong drink, and he or she strikes out to explore beyond Pandaria’s shores. One of the most famous such wanderers was the brewmaster Chen Stormstout, who set out looking for exotic ingredients for his special ale and wound up an integral part of the founding of the Horde.During the bleak days that preceded the sundering of the world, when demons flooded onto Azeroth and threw the entirety of the mortal realm into jeopardy, the last Emperor of the pandaren discovered a way to protect his land from the devastation. His deal with fate shrouded his land within an impenetrable mist for ten thousand years, but the nature of his transaction has left Pandaria haunted ever since…

Start Location:The Wandering Isle
It is the rare pandaren indeed who sought a way beyond the mists of Pandaria. Generations ago, pandaren explorers began to gather on the back of a giant turtle: Shen-zin Su. This great sea turtle roamed Azeroth’s oceans for hundreds of years, eventually losing contact with their mist-shrouded homeland. Here on the “Wandering Isle” young, eager pandaren train and learn, engaging in mock combat against one another and mastering the tools and forms of martial arts. When Shen-zin Su travels near the Maelstrom, life on the Wandering Isle—once pacific and enlightening—is cast into crisis. The ground becomes unstable and Shen-zin Su’s very life is threatened as the great turtle drifts into an unsteady pattern which may be a death spiral. As one of the most promising pandaren wanderers, you must uncover the true threat to the Wandering Isle. But the problem facing the great turtle has several potential solutions, and the students of the isle are split on how to handle it. Your decision will shape the future, and mark the path of the pandaren in a changed world.

Home Continent:Pandaria
Shrouded in fog since the world was sundered more than ten thousand years ago, the ancient realm of Pandaria has remained unspoiled by war. Its lush forests and cloud-ringed mountains are home to a complex ecosystem of indigenous races and exotic creatures. It is the homeland of the enigmatic pandaren, a race that celebrates life to the fullest even while under siege by an ancient menace. The new continent reveals itself to a broken world just as the Alliance and Horde are spiraling ever closer to a war that will consume all of Azeroth. Will the mists of Pandaria part to reveal the world’s salvation? Or will the battle to control this rich and breathtaking new land push the two mighty factions over the brink of war and into total annihilation?

Racial Mount:Dragon Turtle
The pandaren have long sought mounts that embody their values: patience and strength. With a naturally armored hide, even gait (no matter how heavy the passenger), and the relaxed attitude that welcomes long journeys, the Dragon Turtle is perfect for the pandaren adventurer. Indigenous to mainland Pandaria, these fine steeds are easily outfitted with the essentials: maps, cushions, footstools, and brew-storage. Comfortable and hardy, the dragon turtle’s slow, even stride will gently ease passengers into new parts of the world and/or a relaxing nap time.

Alliance Representative: Aysa Cloudsinger
Aysa Cloudsinger is a follower of the path of Tushui who believes in living a venerable life through meditation, rigorous training, and moral conviction. Graceful and poised, Aysa has attained impeccable form and a refined intellect through diligent practice. To Aysa, to follow the way of Tushui is to defend what is right above all else. She believes that success in any endeavor never justifies dishonorable deeds. While the Alliance contains a diverse mix of cultures, Aysa is attracted to the high ideals and values that cement the Alliance together.

Horde Representative: Ji Firepaw
Ji Firepaw, a follower of the more direct Houjin philosophy, is adamant that inaction is the greatest injustice. Ji holds that it is honorable to defend home and family no matter the price. Outgoing, passionate, and not one for deep thought, he is always the first into the fray. Ji finds himself attracted to the scrappy practicality that defines the Horde, and although it costs him dearly, Ji has decided to carry the banner of the Horde upon leaving the Wandering Isle.

ANet’s Stein talks Guild Wars 2 design team goals and roles

ANet's Stein talks Guild Wars 2 design team goals and roles

ArenaNet lead writer Bobby Stein is featured in an interview at Guild Wars 2 Hub. Stein talks about how his role has evolved since the game’s launch, the challenges inherent in GW2′s new two-week content cadence, and a host of other design-related topics.

Stein also offers some frank analysis with regard to GW2′s lofty pre-launch goals. “You can’t pour your blood, sweat, and tears into something for more than five years and not see a million things that you’d do differently, if given the chance,” he explains.

League of Legends hits the five million concurrency mark

League of Legends hits the five million concurrency mark

League of Legends is a runaway success train with no brakes and millions of passengers, it seems. Riot Games announced that the title “regularly exceeds” five million concurrent players across the globe, which is an increase of two million since last October.

“We’re humbled by the support of players and now more than ever feel the weight of those expectations,” Riot Games wrote on its website. “Good luck, have fun, and please have mercy on our servers.”

Of course, that number would be a little higher if all of League of Legends’ 32 million monthly players would log in at the same time. If someone can organize that flash mob, we’ll be first in line to salute the achievement.

Guildwars 2 Cooking Guide

Since we’ve talked a little about crafting at Gw2 Gold Guide, you might have realized by now that having your professions max leveled is a must, especially cooking which is one of the most helpful professions from the game. Why is that? Because cooking never ages: its consumables are always of great help for you and your allies, especially those with that high Gold Find and MF.
new gw2 cooking guide
There were many cooking guides on the Internet that have grown outdated over the time because of the changes Arena-Net made to the game. Some cooking ingredients disappeared from the karma vendors and everything had to be overhauled.

Here is a cooking guide that requires a little bit of gold, but you will be able to max level your cooking profession in a matter of hours. No more fuss, no more running around and searching for karma vendors: just a bit over 1.5 to 2 gold and it will be all over, with a huge gain in experience also. To save even more gold, it is recommended to plan this ahead and start putting some item demands on the Trading Post. Buying them at their offered price can be a time saver for the impatient, but they will lose more silver than just putting up the offers and waiting a couple of days to be filled.

Guildwars 2 Farming Boots On

ust a few days ago Anet renewed their fight against bots and RMT and have had some great success with this new campaign. I’m sure you have all noticed in the huge price increase of all T5/T6 materials. This is fantastic news for players like more that like to farm whilst using the trading post to make their gold. Farming has renewed power and is without a doubt back in the reckoning to be the best way to make gold in Guild Wars 2. Gw2 trading was starting to tip towards crafting but I have a feeling with the recent price increase of all t5/t6 materials that farming will become once again a better way for players to make money than crafting.

You can read John Smiths announcement about the Market Shifts on the Guild Wars 2 forums and he promises more details and updates in the coming weeks, which will certainly be interesting to see.

With farming’s new life I fought I would make this post and link to all the farming spots I have covered here at Gw2 Gold Guide. So go ahead and pick your spot, Lets farm some serious gold.

I’m not sure how long this will last before the bots flood the market again, So I recommend that you take advantage of this change in prices before the prices start dropping down to near vendor price again.

GW 2 Mac OS X

A lot Guild Wars 2 fans (that are also Mac friendly) can start celebrating right about now since it was just announced today that GW2 is now available for Apple’s Mac OS X. The Mac Beta client is available at this moment for all Guild Wars 2 players so you can go and download it right now and check it out. If you are wondering if the game will be any different don’t. ArenaNet already explained that it shares the same features and connects to the same live game servers as the PC client. So anyone who purchases Guild Wars 2 can now play it on both PC and Mac.

This is huge not only for Guild Wars 2 but the industry as a whole since many developers ignored OS X completely. Making this game available for everyone to play regardless of skill, money or even OS was very important to ArenaNet. This announcement proves their commitment to give you the best game experience possible since now you can play with your friends and guildies no matter what operating system you prefer.

Arenanet also said many of the staffers are big Mac fans including the president Mike O’brien who is “rarely seen without his Mac laptop”. Needless to say the whole company is very excited to play Guild Wars 2 on OS X.

The Mac Beta is available to anyone who has purchased or purchases Guild Wars 2. All you need is an active Guild Wars 2 account to download the Mac Beta client. Just log in toaccount.guildwars2.com and click Download Client to get started. If you have any questions, check out our Mac FAQ.

Keep in mind as you play the Mac Beta that it is a beta product. Performance and system requirements aren’t finalized. Review the beta hardware specification, and understand that your overall experience will be better when we release the final version. Even though it’s a beta, the Mac client does connect to the same live environment that the PC client connects to.

GW 2 Game Doing to Grow

At well over 3 million copies sold in the US, Europe and Australia combined, Guild Wars 2 has had an amazing first year, but we have a long ways still to grow.

looking-ahead-10

Many of the core regions for online gaming are on deck to join the Guild Wars 2 community in the years ahead and grow our base to new heights.

We’ve already done our first limited beta test in China, with future tests planned to help prepare the game for release with our incredible partner there, Kong Zhong. To prepare the game for its eastern release, we’re building a new comprehensive “level zero” optional tutorial that teaches the core basics of the game. We’re also adding new story steps at levels 5 and 10 to help better teach core mechanics as players grow. We will also be adding a much better hints system, and a new level-up messaging system all to better teach the game.

All of these systems will be added to the game not just in the east, but to help future new players in the west as well.

So far this year WvW has seen some major updates: from the removal of culling to the new progression, reward and ability system, our WvW population has been rapidly on the rise since January.

GW 2 What About PvP

The addition of custom arenas, rated play, leaderboards, and spectator mode have already been big steps for Guild Wars 2 PvP in 2013. Going forward, we’ll continue to work with and support the rapidly growing competitive PvP community with our eyes towards an extremely exciting future as we work towards solidifying the base. We know we have a lot of work to do to continue that momentum and ensure our PvP experience is everything we ever wanted it to be, so what are some of the things we have coming to get there?
looking-ahead-09
The major focus of the PvP team for the second half of the year will be tied to improving the sense of reward in PvP. In the spirit of the high-level strategy listed above for PvE/WvW rewards that ensure players feel rewarded for their time, we’ll need to build systems that achieve the same goals in PvP. Our PvP team will go into more details on these systems once they are further along.

The addition of new skills and traits on a regular basis will of course mean expanded variety of abilities, builds, and tactics in PvP as well. As these additional skills and traits are added, they’ll be automatically unlocked and available for competitive PvP just like all existing skills/traits work today.

We’ll also expand the competitive options for game play: providing a queue and leaderboards for solo rated play separate from team rated play, adding new map types, adding the ability to gain legendary weapon skins in PvP, providing additional rewards and growth to our major competitive PvP tournaments, hosting our own Year One PvP Championship at PAX, and more!

Our WvW team coordinator Devon Carver did a fantastic job summarizing where we want to take WvW in the future in his blog here. One additional exciting release you’ll see on top of the high-level notes Devon called out in his blog post is the replacement for the original WvW orb mechanic in our borderlands maps. This change should provide more diversity in the gameplay of WvW and make our borderlands more exciting. Of course, everything I’ve talked about in terms of progression and rewards in this post so far will be available in WvW as well!

GW 2 Legendary Gear and Precursors

We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.
looking-ahead-08
In addition, we’ll also improve the functionality of legendaries, allowing you to set their stats when out of combat to any stat combo available, so you don’t need to transmute stat changes for legendaries. Legendary gear will remain with the same tier of stats as ascended gear and will not be made more powerful than other gear, it will simply be slightly more convenient since it will no longer need transmutations to change stats.

Guild Wars 2 Pet Management guide

Guild Wars 2 is a massive game–even for an MMO–and it can be tricky getting your bearings in its brave new world. But BradyGames is here to help, with a strategy guide that’s hundreds of pages long and spells out everything you need to know about the game. We’ve got some sample pages to check out, as well as an introduction to the Ranger profession. Check it out below, then hit up the second page for some insanely high-res images of the guide’s undoubtedly pretty pages.

Use the Pet Management window to set pets for above-ground and aquatic use. Terrestrial pets are locked for land use only, while aquatic ones are for water use. There are amphibious pets that can serve you in either environment.

In the Pet Management window you can also rename your pet. Click the icon that looks like a feather pen and start typing! You can rename your pet as many times as you like.

The Pet Management screen gives a full summary of each pet’s abilities and stats. Only the first ability can be activated by you (as the F2 ability). The other three are used automatically by your pet. This window also lists where you first encountered the pet in case another ranger asks.

Having the best pet for a given situation is as important as having the right weapons and skills. For example, the White Moa is great for helping tanks stay on their feet. The Golden Moa is excellent for moving a party across terrain quickly. The Krytan Drakehound is wonderful when kiting a powerful enemy with its Immobilize and Knockdown. Experiment and see what works best for you and your allies.
